About me
I am a Registered Psychotherapist in Ontario, offering services online and in person in Toronto, Thunder Bay and across Ontario. I have a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University and completed an internship in a private clinic in Thunder Bay.
I have been studying dance movement therapy since the 1980s when I earned a BFA (Special Honours) in dance from York University, and later returned to York to complete a Master of Arts in dance. My research focused on the link between grief and creativity. More recently, I earned a diploma in Dance Movement Therapy from the National Centre for Dance Therapy in Montreal.
I bring a variety of life and work experiences to my work as a therapist. I have worked in the not-for-profit arts sector as an executive director, producer, and tour manager for contemporary dance companies. I also worked for the provincial government for 26 years. For the last 16 years of my career I was in senior management, leading teams to serve the people of Ontario in the most fun and interesting parts of government: culture, tourism, sport and recreation. In addition to the formal education, I have additional training and certification in a variety of approaches. Fully grounded in Rogerian unconditional positive regard and compassion for each client, I employ a strengths-based approach incorporating mindfulness, self-compassion and uncovering meaning and purpose in life, particularly through challenges and changes in life. I believe in the benefits of therapy and am passionate about helping clients to navigate difficulties through a tailored approach to the needs of each individual.
